Surging
into Synchronised Swimming
The Melbourne
Surge water polo club are proud to announce the establishment of
a synchronised swimming team, innovatively named the "Surge
Synchronised Swimming Squad"....
After competing
successfully in the water polo comp at the 1st World Outgames in
Montreal, the club has been building on our skills and reputation
in the area of water polo and decided we wanted to add something
just a little bit more fabulous to the busy activities of the club.
Synchronised
swimming, although looking camp, is actually incredibly hard work
and uses many of the skills that polo players require to get around
the pool in competition. Some of the better water polo teams in
other competitions are getting some training in synchronised swimming
and we thought it was a fun way of getting even better at polo while
having a lot of fun.
We have secured
one of Melbourne’s top synchronised swimming coaches for the
squad who has been instructing us since late in 2006.
The squad is
intent on performing at various functions including the Melbourne
Surge vs Sydney Stingers grudge matches held each year as well as
other carnivals such the Melbourne 2008 Outgames.
Anybody with
an interest in joining our synchronised swimming team, playing water
polo or joining in for the Melbourne Surge Open Water Swim Challenge
is encouraged to contact the club via captain@melbournesurge.org
